Born and raised and still living in Ingersoll, Ontario, Joe started as a scorekeeper in 1974 at the age of 15, moved on to team manger in 1974 , started as a coach in 1979 with a junior team and then moved to intermediate ball in 1983 until 1995, when he retired from the team administration point of view.
During the 26 years of active ball won four provincial championships two in junior and two in Intermediate and was a finalist (runner up) six times.
Joe volunteered at the ISC World tournament in 2002, when the tournament first came to Kitchener, and served as an announcer and scorekeeper. The following year, at the invitation of ISC II Vice President Bob McGowan, he served as an ISC II game controller. In 2003, just hours before the start of the ISC II championship game, he was asked by fastball historian Roger May to go into the booth and help broadcast the game, which he did, with Todd McCabe and Billy Smith.
And the rest, as they say, is history. Joe has continued as a regular member of the ISC II Tournament of Champions broadcast crew since 2004, and is the longest tenure member of the crew.
Joe is best known for his thorough pre-game preparation and his easy going nature.
